Web Design Basics | How To Set Up Web Hosting and Change DNS
This second video in the Web Design Basics series looks at how to get Web Hosting organised and then how to change your Domain Name Servers (DNS) so that they point to your hosting. That way when someone types in the name of your website (the URL) then it will actually go to your website.
If you have not done it before, it can feel a little stressful but if you follow along with the video tutorial and just take it step by step you will find that you will have your new web hosting account set up in no time at all.
Web Hosting Options
Of course there are a number of web hosting options that you could look at but they come with all sorts of restrictions and so may not be suitable for what it is you want a website for. Many people, including myself, started out with FREE web hosting (in my case with WordPress.com) and it served me well until I became frustrated with not being able to add the functions I wanted to my site. That’s when I made the move to my own hosting account. I have had two different hosting providers and I was happy enough with both of them and would recommend you look about to find the web hosting company that feels like the best fit for you.
Getting your own web hosting gives you the flexibility to create whatever kind of site you desire, add plugins for extended functionality and basically be free of unnecessary restrictions.
I certainly hope you are getting great value from this series and that you are feeling empowered to watch, pause, do… until you get it organised.
If you like the look of the hosting I used then click on GVO Web Hosting and choose which package or option suits you the best.
Yes this is my affiliate link – I will make a couple of dollars a month if you click it and decide to buy. If that is something you can’t abide just go right to their site using this GVO link and I won’t make a cent. This is an example of Affiliate Marketing – if you want to know more, then subscribe in that big form in the sidebar so you don’t miss those tutorials.
So let me know your thoughts, make some suggestions for further ‘How To’ video tutorials which may help you do something you don’t yet know how to do and REMEMBER…
